[rant] Well, it's first time I've gotten so invasive a virus, and it's certainly not nice. Apparently many other people have gotten this piece of shit that installs itself. Not only that, it's invited a whole bunch of other shit into my computer (which is why I'm writing from a laptop while I do not one but TWO full system scans, with different programs, of course). Of course, it's also slowing my computer down to a halt, so I can't do anything until the damned thing has been removed... Well, if anyone does get it, a word of advice. Ad-aware is known to detect it and can remove it ( but I don't see that happening...), as well as Spybot. I'm using a nifty little app called Webroot Spy Sweeper. I was trying out a new vid card (alright, ti 4600, but still something) and I was downloading drivers from MSI, when I got this shit.

After four hours (and plenty of frustration later), we finally got rid of the damn thing and left symantec to do a scan for the whole night. I just hope the damned thing doesn't come back...

Pwt turned me back to pccillian. I had it for a couple years but tried the free avgfree virus after that and got a few virus that caused me to loose a couple days. You might install that for future proof.

I've gotten some nasty one's myself in the past, and although I usually clean them with a spyware utility, I highly recommend the following:
-Make it easy on yourself to re-format.

That is: have your drivers on disk, ready to go... Have your Windows CD and key at the ready, and have crucial files backed up, etc...

I've spent HOURS trying to clean a virus before, when I probably could have re-formatted 4 times in the time that it took to clean. The worst part is, there are times when I THOUGHT I had gotten rid of it, only to see it pop up a few days later.

I don't think I've ever done any reformatting on that computer since I've gotten in. Some of the stuff I found still amazes me...
By the way, do any of you know where to get some drivers for a card that'll allow me to underclock the voltage for my ti4600? I need to lower the voltage just a tiny bit to make it work correctly. Anything but the MSI drivers, please. I got this whole SpyFalcon thing when I was downloading drivers....

Edit: By the way, be sure you have a good virus protection program, since this thing brings in assloads of viruii (I was getting about 5 viruses every 10 minutes with this son of a bitch). Many people were complaining about how it bypassed Norton, Spybot, etc.

These babies ALWAYS outperform the stock drivers released from Nvidia/ATI.
On top of that, they generally give you full flexibility for under/over clocking, and several other cool features that weren't always available on the stock drivers for (relatively) older cards.
