It's called hand-me-down upgrades... :-)

When Law-MCE 1.0 (A7V133) crashed and burned, *my* -X went to Mrs.Law and *her* 266 went to become the new MCE (and I use MCE only to imply that the machine is used for media, not that XP-MCE is installed)

Besides, it's not 1 up...it's 4 up...

Gigabit Lan vs 10/100
Dual Channel ram vs Single Channel
SATA vs PATA
Fireware vs no Firewire

:-)

BTW, the best thing I did was switch from the V (Via) chipsets to the N (Nvidia) chipsets. Via worked great, but was much harder to tweek for optimum performance.

It should be completed by the end of next week! The rest of the orders should be placed by the beginning of next week. Wish me luck!

As long as they hold the mobo to the standoffs you should be set. Your case didn't have any either?

go to compusa/microcenter/someplacelikethat and get a set or bitch until they send you some.

It aint worth using the wrong stuff... you'll have wrong thread count and strip out mounts (how would you like your HDD to fall?) or have a screw with a head thats too big and short out the mobo when it touches something it shouldn't.

Yes its all possible. I've seen it.

I guess it came with 4 standoffs? They are 4 little brass nuts almost that screw in with a hole in one side. I can't seem to find these fucking things online either, alls I can find are thumb screws.

I was going to suggest, if you have standoffs, you can carefully remove one, and take it down to your local hardware store...

Get one of the folks there to get you some #4 pan-head machine screws to fit the stand-off.
