Prius MPG vs Hummer MPG

Postby law.of.averages » Wed Sep 28, 2005 6:05 am

Some of you may already know, back in November 2003 I decided to purchase a Toyota Prius... which I ordered in January of 2004, and finally picked up in August 2004.

For my birthday this year, my wife got me a license plate frame from http://www.greenhybrid.com that says "I get 50 MPG, You?"

Yesterday someone finally answered that question. I was in traffic heading west on I-4, and a full size Hummer got stuck behind me long enough to notice/read the plate frame.

As he passed me (on the right), he reached out and held up 1 finger.

And here, I thought they got better than *that*

That's great stuff man and good for you for going with the Prius. You have to see the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode from last season about the Prius. Larry David drives one in the show and in real life is the biggest contributer in Hollywood to the Democratic campaign. He said you Prius owners always wave at each other.

It really used to be that way, but It's happening less often as more cars hit the roads... In any case we usually use more than one finger at a time :-) I suspect the hummer driver in question had just come from a 'refueling experience' otherwise I'd have been given no notice at all.

With my *long* commute, and needing a new car anyways (My Saturn had over 1-light-second in miles) it was an easy decision to go with a hybrid, and all the cool gadgets Toyota threw in had nothing to do with it.

nyce law...

i likie

btw, the hummer gets gr8 gas mileage...just ask an owner to pop the hood one day, and ull see like 3, or in a 'suped' up one 4 miniature ponies in there on a large mouse wheel

its the cost in produce that screws them....
