Hehe. Those are Bass Horns. They have to be that big similar to a bass organ pipe to reproduce the frequencies below 80hz or so. These speaks would probably not be the choice translator for you rockers though as they more faithfully reproduce classical instruments and some jazz.

Recently I've been listening to Anthony Hamilton, Lyfe Jennings, The Wallflowers, and some Freddie Hubbard here and there.
