holy crap hugz to the Orange Box

Postby Houdini » Mon Jan 07, 2008 11:10 am

I downloaded steam this week and finally purchased the Orange Box set of games from valve. Team Fortress 2 is a ton of fun but there is another game that caught me by surprise. Has anyone played Portal? It’s a puzzle game in a 3d environment where you open portals to manipulate things in the map to get through a sort of maze. It is way too much fun I am not sure how many boards there is to it but I have to say it’s worth the price of the orange box by itself.

Yeah its half life 2 episode 1 and 2, portal, team fortress 2 and half life lost coast. The portal game is such a trip there is a part where there is a room with these robots firing bullets at you when you stay in the room for a few seconds. So you open a portal above them then go in another room and grab this brick thing and open a portal in the wall out there. So now you’re looking at the wall and through the portal you see the top of the robots head and you walk up and drop the brick right down on the guy. Hilarious. Also leaving a portal on a high ceiling and then placing one right below the robot so he drops through the ceiling is great.

I played through most of portal and got most of the advanced levels done. There was one that required a lot of screwing around with timing that I didn't really feel like doing, but the rest were excellent fun, and did require a bit of messing around with physics and such. Great game, kinda short, but that's okay.

Does Tf2 have a part of the game that is pay to play ? like you get more weapons or something as an advantage if you pay a subscription fee ? also how is the lag and such and the is there a big community ?

I am not sure about the pay thing I just played it a few times I will have to check that out. There is more people playing it then UT3 but that is not saying nothing. I did not notice it being to laggy but the pace of the game is not all that fast to make it matter much.

Yep loved it too Houdini. Portal was a blast, I do tf2 from time to time and ep 2 was better than 1.

I mentioned tf2 back when ut3 came out and how much more fun it was but did you listen? nooooo.... :salmon:
