Give us your review of it. I actually looked when I restarted my laptop to realize one of my sticks of ram wasn't being read, it's damaged. Figure I'll pick up UT3 when I get another stick. Not really looking forward to it, but I need something to occupy my time.

Something tells me this game isn't going to sell well.
I think Midway's focus is on the console market, not PC. If it does well on PS2, it will sell well enough to keep going for a while.

I went to Best Buy 2x this week for other things and both time wondered over and looked at ut3 on the bottom shelf. Picked it up, looked at it, and just couldn't bring myself to buy it. That's sad after 3 very enjoyable iterations of the game and now this.

I did play it a bit over at a friends and it looks very nice but I kind of want to wait till it gets cheaper and they finish making it the way it should have been with patches.

The other thing is I don't want to reward them with 50.00 for that.

I still remember a friend that has a friend working at epic. He told me over a year ago they moved all but a couple artists off ut3 completely for a long time for GoW launch. We waited this long, what over 4 years, for this? As much as I want to like it, I'm waiting till it's in the 25.00 range. Fortunately by then the online community will be completely dead except for about 25 14 year olds with huge egos who play 12 hrs a day. Good times!

It amazes me that people who have gotten hundreds if not thousands of hours from the 40 bucks they spent 4 years ago would show a lack of faith in Epic.
I agree that they released this one pretty fast as they have trying to support GOW the PS2 version of UT3 and they could have done a better job on this .
Epic probably has growing pains as the demand for their games increase.
I understand why they dumbed down this game in a why.
With todays youth and the console market the attention span is very short and they want instant gratification so you have to make it easier for them to play.
Face it UT 2004 is not an easy game to play with the movements it is more like chess than checkers. I think Epic is going for a cross between checkers and chess . They are now working on beta patch 2 to resolve more of the issues that people have.
Remember computer are far more complex than consoles with all the different configs out there so have faith that Epic will get this right . They have given us a lot of great games in the past as well as free Bonus packs which many other companies would package and try to sell as expansion packs. If you want to call me a Epic fanboy then go ahead as I
guess I am.

pork,

I agree $40 bucks over 4 years of hundreds of hours of entertainment...definitely the best money I ever spent on entertainment (including strippers).

the new editor is sweet...the game looks pretty cool too....compared to UT 99 (just finished playing through it to remember what it was like) there are more similarities to it than 2004. I'll play it...the movement isn't that bad after you get used to it...I wasn't that great at moving in 2004 to begin with...I'm no 'Dini. In a few months they'll have this tuned.

A few months for probably 4 years of playability....I'll take it. :)

Ok this beta 3 patch fixed the favorite server in a weird way.
Once you played a map it is in the history file and from there you can add to favorites.
If anyone wants a link t the patch pm me . There are a lot of fixes in 1 and 2 and 3 betas
so I encourage you to try them and see how you lie them.

Has everyone switched over to UT3 now or are people still waiting like me?

I have UT3 and I'm not playing it much. I play, and enjoy, 2k4 way more.

UT3 has most certainly not captured my imagination, or replaced 2k4 for me.

Oh man of wise words. What would you put down on paper as the biggest reason why you don't play?

I've been having fun going through the campaign so far. Unlike 2004, which completely skipped onslaught in it's single-player mode...this one seems to give a good representation of all the available games, and jumps around to make it ineteresting

After 2 years of playing against neon-bright skins with y'all, I'm having a tough time seeing the enemy. But I can't complain too much as I argued very strongly against brightskins in the first place. (still don't like them for casual play...makes the eyes lazy)

Excellent point about the bright skins.

In the demo I don't like the differences in movement, but the fact that I can't see anything turned me off even more (not just the players, but the world as well). Then I look at COD4 where players are also very difficult to see, and movement is extremely different from UT2K4. So why do I have this huge dislike for UT3? It can't be just not seeing players and it can't be just the movement. I'm at a loss and the only thing I can come up with is it's because it's too console-ized.
