*UPS man shows up at door at 3:00pm.
*nonstop has hard decision, work or set up core 2 duo system
*nonstop abandons work and sets up new system
Question is... Will I have it set up and ut installed in time to play a couple rounds of TAM?
Currently winblows says 29 min left for install and it's 7:00. Hmm.... 7:30 done with winblows, 8:00 done with drivers and UT... Hmmm... possibly.
Will he make it...

Yea, tell us what's in your toybox
I just ordered one of these for the TV computer... the case it's in now is... well, it's not quite living-room quality.

Of course I screwed up and ordered it from Tiger Direct, where shipping and tax made it $20 more than zip zoom fly... one day I'll learn.

Which CPU did you get ?
e6300 core 2
asus p5b-e
2gig gskill with green heat spreaders
Put it all together with my 7800gtx and xfi yesterday.
Came in to play a couple games with ti but was too busy tweaking and checking out the system last night
What I have noticed so far...
3dmark05 was not much higher than my 3500+ amd
It overclocked 20% with no changes in voltage without blinking. I'm going to run it up to 3.0 if it will go that far but will need a better hs/f than stock. Right now I will probably get it up to around 2.6 and hold off. That's still better than an e6600 which retails for much more. The stock e6300 is at 1.83ghz btw.
I noticed when I came in to play ut that it was much smoother. Not sure why as I had a fresh load of windows last month on my 3500 amd. The best way I can describe it is with my amd it seemed like it was working hard to squeeze the frames out. I run everything in ut at full till you hear the guy say 'holy $hit'.
With the core 2 setup it just ran like silk. Best comparison is when I saw voodoo cards running ut99 once smoother and faster than my 'better and faster' gf2. As I learned later it was because it was running opengl instead of directx. However the comparison works as the core 2 system with the same video card run ut2k4 last night like silk.
Not sure if it's because it's an intel chipset with an intel cpu or just that dual core runs things smoother? No idea but I likey.

What you are seeing in UT is you have a core dedicated to the game itself instead of sharing it with Windows.
If you do the old control alt delete in the desktop with UT running you see that your CPU is running at 100%.
Single cores are sharing Windows Teamspeak and UT and whatever you have running in the background . You are getting better preformance in the game.
