Law Zero - Status Update

Postby law.of.averages » Thu Nov 02, 2006 7:42 am

Well, it looks like my new machine is up and running. The jury is still out on the on-board SoundMAX audio. Yesterday with the new set of drivers, I didn't experience any of the teamspeak static. I guess I can hold off buying a new sound card until a few more tests have been done.

Setting the audio aside, I'd have to say the board functions quite well. The 2nd core makes boot-up much faster, since all the processes that get started now have two cpu's to fight over.

In game, I dunno... I think I'm getting on target more, so the better system capabilities could be helping out. I don't know... it could be all in my head

On the job, it's definitely a plus. I can run a virutal machine at near full-speed while still working on the host, with out any (or hardly any) slow-downs at all.

There's still room for improvement, but on the whole, I'm rather happy with it.

Thanks for the report. I know some games actually perform worse with dual core and you want to run both cores as one for better performance. Not sure with UT2k4.

Now I want a dual core. Damn u law....

Oh and on board audio  :salmon:
