So I don't hijack ace's thread on music that defines you, Soulja mentioned a great bassist. I'm interested if you have heard of some of my favorite bassists?

Michael Manring,

Jeff Berlin,

John Pattitucci,

Victor Wooten,

Geddy Lee

These are some of my favorite bassists. Heard any of em?

This may seem kind of silly, but do modern-day troubadours count? There are a number of them that I listen to, and they are pretty good.

Hey Non,

I like Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Larry Graham, The dude from Maroon 5, and Jill Scott's bassist.

Soulja, I'll have to listen in more to the Maroon 5 dude. Does he have skills or you just like his groove?

Marcus Millers is great, Jaco, say no more. If you want to have your face blown off go check those bassist's I listed, esp. Michael Manring and Victor Wooten.

Kaff, 'Modern day Troubadors?" Ya whatcha got?

That'd have to be Roy Clark from the show Hee Haw...

Sure, he slung his guitar so high he could rest his chin on it, but the guy could play over 50 different musical instruments including such obscure things like washboards and moonshine jugs.

What modern-day Troubadours are is that they basically do sung poetry, and so far the only ones I know of are polish. Just don't ask me to remember the names

The Maroon 5 guy is a groove monster, no doubt about that.
