Song of the Workday Thread

Postby ClownMajik » Fri Aug 18, 2006 7:51 pm

This may turn into a weekly thing. But for now, it's every workday (M-F).

Cat's in the Cradle by Harry Chapin

Also covered by:
Johnny Cash
Simon & Garfunkel
Ricky Skaggs, Finn Kalvik
Ugly Kid Joe
Mandy Patinkin

My personal favorite was the cover done by Simon and Garfunkel.

A bit of history fact. Harry Chapin's original score did not score him any awards. It was Simon and Garfunkel that really made the song take off.

Wiki and lyric meanings

It is the story of a father who is too busy with work and related obligations to have enough time to spend with his son, though in the chorus the son comments to his dad "I'm gonna be like you". Later, after his son grows up and he now wants to spend time with him, the son now finds excuses to avoid spending time with his father. Too late, the father discovers his son has grown up just to be like him.
"Of all the moments in my life, you were always there somewhere. Once as a wish. Once as a blessing. And now as the greatest loss I'll ever experience."

Blur - Song 2

An awsome song for the workforce. It may be old school, but the song makes me want to jump off walls!

I'll add it because it makes time seem to go by faster when I listen to it

Hey av, I've heard of Kamaya Painters before. But that was ages ago. Care to give me a little info on their style of music?

The person who uses that name has a style kind of like Dj Tiesto, but I kind of like Kamaya Painters more. It's kind of hard to describe exactly what kind of style, but it's trancey, to say the least. I can send you a few songs, if you want :D

(Various Artists) - Low Rider

Depending on the artist, this song goes waaaaay back. No one can tell me that this song doesn't rock. I still like the original.

w00t! go CCR. I heard them on the radio today. :D I listen to a station that's all 60's and 70's oldies. (not quite rock oldies like Ledzepp. More like chicago and the like.) in the morning. Then in afternoon, its all Razor Rock all the time!

Yeah the 60's and the 70's channel on Sirrius are pretty good to I listen to them all day. Well when I am not listening to Stern.

For reasons I will explain elsewhere, and later, I'd like to requeset "The Refreshments" Banditos as today's workday song...

Double Play

Alien Ant Farm - Criminal

A remake of Michael Jackson's Criminal. AAF did a pretty good job at it too. A little faster than usual though. I'm going to be honest here. Even tho MJ is an accused psycho, I do enjoy a lot of his work. Check this song out sometime.

Jonny Cash - A Boy Named Sue
A little out of the usual mix today. In 1969, JC ran five weeks straight at #1 on the country billboard chart with this song. Four weeks on another for the same tune. Today I listened to a live version. For some reason it kept reminding me of pork...??? Hey look sid! I listened to a country song!
