I don't know about you guys but its kinda nice to not be on the phone or computer when on a plane for a couple hours.

I agree. I think that allowing phones on planes would just be annoying as hell because you know that half the people on the plane would be talking the whole flight making it so I can't sleep.

Some of you may have noticed that the Law.of.Averages sometimes reveals a mild penchant for dickheadishness.

On my last fight out to Los Angeles, I was seated next to a woman in her mid fortys. Several times during the flight, I heard the distinctive static pattern of 'cell phone tower seek' in my noise cancelling headphones.

About every 15 minutes, she'd pull her phone out of her purse, turn it on, look at the display... then shut it back off.

After I think the forth time. I said, loud enough for those around to hear.... "You're not allowed to have that on while we're in flight" She didn't say anything, but I could feel her tense up beside me.

About 15 minutes later she got up and went to the bathroom... Took her purse with her.

Near the end of the flight, as we started descending, not long before we were due to shut everything down, I again heard the static in my ears. Without looking I said, again loud enough for all around to hear. "Boy you just can't seem to follow the rules can you. I guess you think you're just better than the rest of us."

Again she didn't say anything, but once we hit the ground she couldn't wait to get out of that seat.

Not at all... ok maybe some... I just figure if her side of the plane crashes because she's checking the time, my side does too...

Wouldn't have a problem if the FCC banned all cell phones. I hate mine and to increase the safety of planes passing over head, I'm more then willing to stop using it.*

They ought to ban them from use in moving vechiles too.People in traffic weaving in and out they usually have a damn cell phone stuck in their face.

Jesus H Christ, thats the least of our worries about aircraft.
So simple humanity can be. No worries. in 10-30 years. Your cell will be null and void unless we worry about other things than using our bloody cell phone on a flight. (Yes, Im typing harder) Grrrr, take a look around you. That bum on the street can only dream of flying sunshine.
But ya I know we all have to bitch bout somethin.
