My First Published Picture

Postby Trinity » Tue Jul 01, 2008 5:27 pm

I enjoy watching the Kalamazoo Kings play baseball, and that I also like taking pictures. On a whim I decided to contact the office of the Frontier League to find out how they picked the daily picture. Kevin Rouch responded back the very next day and said, "submit whatever pictures you think would work on our home page." Pretty cool I thought.

So last night I captured a Midwest player going up for a hit which turned into a home run. As soon as I got home I pulled the pics from my camera and quickly enlisted Ace to help me crop said picture for front page submission. I sent that email at 10:48pm last night. Then, at 8:45am this morning, I received a response saying they were going to use my picture today.

Here is the original:

And here is a screenshot of my picture on the Frontier League home page uploaded by PhotobyAce:

When Ace took the screenshot they hadn't added my name in yet but it's there now. He got the first ball on bat picture but I got the first published photo. Woo hoo!

Thank you everyone.

I am totally convinced that even with the best equipment (which I don't have!) so much comes down to the luck of timing when you are trying to capture sports. Regardless of whether the evening turns out a good picture for submission we have a great time out there watching the game.
