I can't believe it... yes, my situation sucks..
For the last 5 years I've worked for CCMC writing some of the best code I can, and keeping their network running. I've kept secret the fact that the owner's son spends his work day downloading porn.
How does he repay me...
Today, on my last scheduled work day, I get a call while driving home. He threatened to cancel my insurance immediately (with my wife going into surgery tomorrow AM) if I don't agree to work another 3 weeks.
What complete bullshit.

He can't cancel your insurance and have it effective immediately if it has been deducted from your check. Your insurance is always good 30 days after your last pmt. Read your policy for details. Also...it is federal law that upon separation, an employer must offer in writing - the option to perpetuate your policy through the COBRA plan.

Let's see if I can take care of everyone before heading back to hosptial...
First, off no baby...much as I might wish it otherwise this was a corrective action. All went very well... Wife updates will be posted http://www.njfiorello.com as I see fit.
Next, I neither request nor desire, and indeed condemn anyone here to who might take action against my employer, either legal or questionable. If I deem anything necessary, I'm sure the anti-piracy departmet of the Business Software Aliance is more than up to the task at hand.
I'm hoping the insurance thing will work out. I'm not sure they can call a week a lapse in coverage in any event. Really it's going to come down to how good the new insurance company is. Also it really comes down to how they pay the bills. Obvously coverage will not run out when they say, but rather when the money runs out.
As for how y'all can help... a place to rant, and things to shoot at is more than anyone can ever hope for
And as far as I can tell, his porn-sniffing son was not born out of wedlock, so the term used below may not apply.

Update:
Wife out of hospital, Currenty making my life hell from the comfort of our own sofa
There's a federal law that won't let the new insurance company cry foul unless the insurance gap is more than 63 days... Last I checked 10 < 63. Big relief there.
Looking into my legal options for getting my remaining PTO.
Old boss's son is still as useless as teats on a bull.

Law, great to hear your wife is back to to doing what they do best.
Also, watch American Beauty again, if you haven't seen it shame on you, and follow Kevin Spacey's characters words verbatim when he's getting the axe.
