The first computer Duffy built me burned down in a fire...

Postby Cloud » Wed Feb 03, 2010 9:19 pm

The second was stolen when it was shipped to me.

So since my computer was so fucking slow nowadays, and apparently if Duffy builds me a new one it is destined to never reach me, I decided to clear out my computer. I used the hp/pc recovery something or other on this 5 year old Compaq.

So I'm back to basics. Any downloads I need? I got all my windows updates going, but other than that I'm sure I'll need a variety of things...

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Get Avg antivirus and spamware or the Microsoft Serurity Essentials.

Backup software.

I recommend Acronis True Image. It's about $50 but it works.

I've gone through a few backup / break something / restore cycles and It's not failed me yet.

Also came in very handy a year or so ago when MSI support said "Install a clean copy of Windows" when I complained about a memory leak in one of their drivers.
