Trin,

When did you dive Gilboa Quarry? My daughter and I dove it for the first time Labor Day weekend. Cool place. Love the Sikorsky and the paddle fish were wild. Got an image or two...what are you using for the underwater shots?

We dove it twice now. Our first time was August 23-24th, but that was for our advanced class. Then we went down this past weekend to have more fun. With the class, we really didn't get to explore as much as we wanted to. This time was much more relaxed and provided us more time to play around with getting pictures.

The camera is a Canon SD550.

Think my favorite is the plane, but I'll remember this forever (a fish giving me a hickey):

Then notice when it's Trin's turn...how she throws her bag!

Here's a picture that I'm sure many of you have thought about doing to me for a long time:

Too funny. Ace and I took our Advanced class there near the end of August. During the class we didn't have much free time and didn't take the camera with us. So, we went back last Saturday in order to explore and get some pics/vids. The stuff in my sig shows the most current things I've posted to my flickr account.

Here is a link to pics/vids from throughout the summer

Up until last weekend this was my favorite photo but now there are too many to choose from.

We use a Canon SD550 (small point and shoot camera) with a Canon underwater housing. It does amazingly well with the video but struggles at times with the lighting for pictures.

very cool. the canon does a nice job...trying to figure out which way to go...decent but cheap. the underwater housing fro my canon digital slr is more than the camera :(

We dove Gilboa as part of our advanced certification too. We did peak performance buoyancy, fish id, and underwater nav there. We still need two more classes for the cert...need to wait until the kid is twelve for the deep dive class. :)

feeding the fish is crazy there...definitely nibbled my ears and fingers but fun. Ace I'm suprised you didn't impale some fish with the knife as they were lunging for the food 8)

maybe next summer we can meet up there and dive.

That would be fun. I figure we will be making the trip to the quarry at least twice a year. It's a 3 hour drive. This last time we drove down in the morning, did our dives, had dinner in Findlay, then drove back home. I think we collapsed into bed :).

Sounds good. It's four hours for us so we camped the weekend. It's expensive as shit to camp but gotta love the convenience...wake up, walk to the dock, dive. I've got to get the few images I have up on the web.
