Call of Duty 4

Postby Houdini » Mon Nov 05, 2007 12:41 pm

Just finally loaded up COD 4 demo and it is a lot of fun if you have not tried it yet. Compared to the Crysis demo it has comparable graphics although limited to the strict mission objectives so you don’t have as much of the free form choose your own adventure style of play. Even with that I you can tell the game is going to be fun as hell for the day or two before you beat it. The scene with the tank stuck in the bog is great. Picking off all the enemies with the sniper gun is too much fun. Has anyone else given it a try?

I loaded it up the day it was released and was quite impressed. After the UT3 demo came out and I played that, I went back to this (COD)!

It's another game where the surroundings are affected by what's happening, but not the the Crysis extent. It reminded me of Ravenshield and I spent a good number of hours playing that in single as well as multi player. Heh. Maybe I'll fire that one up again for old times sake.

Anyway, much more enjoyable than UT3, but hard for me to say whether Crysis or COD4 is better.

I have got a little bored with the "WWx" themes in shooters but kept hearing this was really good. Damnit after you 2 saying it's good even after you have tried crysis now I have to try yet another demo! :P

Its modern warefare in the middle east. You could look at it as WWIII I guess. :)

wow. All I can say is the objective after the one that was in the demo when your flying and dropping bombs and 25mm rounds on targets was the best thing that has ever happend to me.

I just read a review on Gamespot.com that said that the single player side of the game runs about 5 hours of play. Apparently they are more focused on the multiplayer portion of the game.

I'll be interested in what you think after you've run through the single player completely.

I actually played about a half hour of the multi player late last night and it is fun as hell. You earn ranks the more you play and also they unlock features that are only available after you reach certain levels. I think at about 1am when I got on last night most of the servers where at least half full and there was, praise the lord, NY servers to choose from.

As to the single player I will probably be through the game by tomorrow but it is a lot of fun. Also its a game that my friends who don't play online fps will jump in on the single player mode and figure it out.

Well, since I'm not going to put in a great deal of time in another online shooter beside UT, the multiplayer side of COD 4 isn't much of a selling point for me.

I enjoyed the original COD quite a bit, and to a lesser extent COD 2 for the single player game. I'm not too interested in COD 4 if it's as short as it's reported to be.

As I remember, I tried the multiplayer version of one of them and never got interested.

Maybe I'll get COD 4 in a while after the price has dropped. :)

For some reason I notice I my play in UT is actually a bit better when I play other FPS's. I think most likeley because they dont let you jack rabbit spring all over the place and it keeps my feet on the ground a bit more.
