Ok I am installing 7 new XP prof clients on a win2k server. Replacing all the old clients running win2k.

During setup on 1st client - user name is Dr. Geldernick, entered pw 1790. Went to Computer name and named it OBGYN3. Domain is int2.local. Asked for admin pw - entered - message "welcome to INT domain" and asked to restart. Did so....

Log on screen defaulted to:

User: Dr Geldernick
PW:
Log on: INT2

Keep getting message: "System cannot log you on because domain is not available"

Waited awhile - same thing. I can see the pc in Active Directory. All settings there match the other pc's working fine. Restarted server - no dice.

What else can I try?

Thanks!!

I'm at home now so I will have to dbl chk in the morning. Did not adjust user rights so went to default. But user not logged on as Admin. Should I adjust rights? Which ones?

Usually that error means the DNS entries for active directory are ... what's the word our Microsoft rep used...oh yea.... fucked-up. (he actually said the hyphen)

But it could be other things... See if you can browse to \\server\sysvol (replacing server with the name of your Dr's server) Usually if you can do that, your network is sound.

BTW, nice job giving out your customers' name and password over the internet. :salmon:
