Vista ejects cd when mounted thru My Computer

Postby Hoss » Wed Dec 19, 2007 9:05 am

No matter what kind of format, the DVD/CD ejects the disk when I try to mount it thru "Computer." Message comes up saying "please insert disk", when it ejects.

I thought it might be the DVD/CD but when I launch Windows Media or any other application, the cd's play just fine.

Autoplay is checked on. Each category in Autoplay is set to do at least something for each format.

This is not my machine. It was not upgraded to Vista, it was preinstalled so there can't be a migration problem with drivers et al. Driver for DVD/CD is up-to-date. Customer can't pinpoint it but there might have been problems shortly after she installed I-Tunes etc.

Thanks for any tips on the Vista pos : )

Putting any Mac software on any machine will probably screw it up.

Haha! Sounds like Pork is referring to Vista as Mac software!

Nope
My Vista runs fine.
I keep Apple crap off my system (with the exception of Quicktime ) as it is unnecessary.

If you mean "Mount" as in mounting an ISO file to a blank CD using Vista Burn then you really can't. Vista DRM often prevents ISO files from being mounted. Nero can do it, but even then it's choppy. DVD Decrypter does work with vista however. Although I don't even bother anymore. Demon Tools has released a Vista version of their drive emulator. You can emulate up to four fake CD/DVD drives that show up under Computer. You can simply mount ISO files on the fake drives and autorun will kick in. You can install right from the ISO w/o burning it to a DVD.

Its already messed up if its running Vista so who cares what you load?

I'll stick with XP sp3 and enjoy my extra performance while Pork is busy whining about how much he hates something he has no experience with.

Silly Dragon. Vista is an operating system. To setup a recording studio you need masons, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, drywall hangers, roofers, and inspectors.

Well, I kept it simple... Left off things like HVAC installers, Agents, Executives, Greedy bastards, RIAA representatives, drug pushers, etc etc etc.
