monitor woes

Postby Houdini » Sat Nov 24, 2007 10:53 pm

Well as if my monitor overheard me talking about replacing it the sucker died on me as far as I can tell. Well I wanted to go back to the LCD anyway so now I am looking that way. So now what I need to know is should I go widescreen or not. The choices at best buy were ok they had some nice widescreens and also a square 19" LG with a 2ms response time listed. I know that widescreens have problems with games that are not supporting widescreen but I think the new games should right? I also found this program for some of the troubles that come up:

So should I get the widescreen? Does anyone know if COD4 and UT3 support widescreen?

Help!!!

COD4 runs on a widescreen with no issues. I just picked up a 22" Samsung widescreen on Friday.

Hi Houdi, for your question i think both format are good thats just a personal choice ,but if i were you i will try to avoid an lg. I have buy 2 of them and return them, they have big problem whit there screen they make a lot of overscan.Go for samsung, viewsonic, and if you can found one nec multisync 90gx2 i have the nec and i am very impress about it,nice black not to much white and very precise in the color

Hope it helps gl buddy

I agree with Rom. Either Viewsonic or NEC would be the best quality.
LG is questionable and Samsung has seem to come a long way after they bought a bunch of patents from Sony.
I would suggest staying away from Sony and LG.
Widescreen or regular is your choice but I would stick with a regular screen.

Holy crap its freaking great I had no idea what I was missing. There is so much more room to work and have stuff open I love it. I loaded call of duty and for kicks played it for a bit at 1920 x 1200 resolution and I was speechless. I spent time just looking at one of my teammates back packs and the fabric of the clothes it looks so real. At one point I was crawling over a guy I just killed and was looking at the dead guy with his mouth open and someone else stabbed me. I wonder what he thought I was doing? So now I have some questions. I let the game auto select the screen format but should I have just picked 16:10? Also I wondered what resolution you guys and girls use when playing games with the widescreen. I was messing around with different ones and could not really settle on one.
