Didn't some peeps review some lcd's before? I saw a 19" lcd with 5ms response time for $189. Is this fast enough for UT? Does anyone play with an lcd?

Hey Hoss,

On Cubelie's recommendation from acdc, and a lot of research I dove in about 3 mo ago with this Samsung SyncMaster 940bf. It has no motion blur and I'm very happy with it. Highly recommended over my crt's.

I had tried a viewsonic that also had 2ms but took it back as it had motion blur. To be fair though I don't know if I ever set the refresh up to 70mhz. I noticed blur on the samsung until I set the refresh rate up and then it was gone.

So 5 ms would be too slow?

From what i've heard, 5ms to 2ms isnt a huge difference visually, unless you are a superl337 player and "need" that 3ms edge. Im happy with mine, i think even non has converted, he used to be crt king :)

Non, how did you tweak the refresh rate? Cant remember if i altered anything or not, maybe i need to

That price is a steal compared to what i got it for non. $400.00+

Hoss, there're so many options nowadays, from Viewsonic, Samsung, Nec, you're not at loss as a gamer. Highly recommended to use a very low ms.. 2ms or even 1 ms if it exists; - let me remind you UT2007 is just around the corner and you want to enjoy a picture perfect quality from your monitor regardless of the present gpu. On some 3rd person games the fast response will always be nr1 factor IMO.

Maximumpc's current top 19" desktop is NEC 90GX2 & widescreen Dell 2407FPW.

Me personally, very happy w/ what i have, same what Noni has..

I was always worried about the ghosting factor because I am very sensitive to it (makes me motion sick almost instantly). But, I've had my 19" Samsung for 10 months now and love it. I can't remember what the response time is but I want to say it's 12ms. I know that a Sony with the same response time was absolutely horrible and I promptly returned it. Anyway, I don't think you have to shell out the extra bucks for that lower response time seeing as mine works just as well as my CRT... and it's bigger! I'll try to update with the actual model when I get home.

Here is a pixel fix progam for those that already have LCDs. Just install the app and run each color individually. Than flash the area by choosing start.

Thanks for the link Cubeli! Although I use a CRT for gaming, I can still use this for my other LCD's.

Lol @ Dragn. :)

Okay. Mine is a Samsung 914V. According to the site the refresh is only 12ms (914V details), but it plays UT2004 beautifully.

Just make sure and try it for yourself Hoss. 12 was to much for me personally. If you can get it somewhere where you can take it back that would be optimal.
