i had my eye on this a while ago, but figured that if i could squeeze out more than 81 hotkeys centered around wasd in WoW, that the n52 wasnt worth 40 bucks.
i mean shit, even for ut2k4, what keys do we have, 11? at most? what are we gonna do with the other 100 keys? program lines like LOL, ROFL, EAT ME... etc
now that i can get this thing for around 20 bucks, does anyone here have one and think it to be worthwhile? im also starting to play more RTS (would help with scrolling the map at the very least) and games like GTA san andreas pc

I played on Gilneas, a PVE server, horde side. I raided as a troll Warrior named Chubbyemu.. The furthest his guild got was broodlord in BWL. account has been inactive since 2/14/2006
last time i visited, there were maybe 200 people online on the entire horde side of the realm
and i didnt know about PVE vs PVP till i was well over level 40
and pewter, did the nostromo just not fit your needs? or was it just not fitting for 2k4?

As I used it more I started running outta keys... the whole shift thing didnt work well when you needed speed. The worst was the directional pad though... it was supposed to be able to give multitple simultanous inputs but its really worse then just the plain WASD keys.
I got MUCH faster when I dropped it.

i can see how that works
question: the "shift".. does it actually lock or do u hold it down. Im assuming for that function, you would press the button and all of the other keys have different controls bound to them, correct? so, would u toggle it or hold it down to switch the other keys?
and the direction pad.. i dont see much use for this one other than various miscellaneous binds to it. if u said its worse than wasd, were u trying to move with the direction pad?

Shift can be either way... sticking or press when needed.
I did try to move with it... it sucked... then i used it as a bind and it not very useful.

I use the Claw (
http://www.claw.com.au) and I love it. I don't use the shift functions, but it so much more comfortable than a keyboard. It takes a little getting used to.

yeah, i could barely manuver in unreal championship (ut2k3 for xbox) with the d-pad on an xbox controller. couldnt imagine it on that one. i held the thing at the local compusa, and i dont think i could bind anything more than the down direction if i was ever to use this
the shift toggle or switch seems really handy though
two last questions for you before i order:
1) how does the "space button" feel for jumping in 2k4?
2) what buttons are the very left 3, the very left column? are those the shift buttons?
and tag, that thing looks crazy. that would be a completely different feel

Basically any of the buttons can do whatever you want. All programmable. I haven't used it in like 18-24 months though...

Fats, just think of it as a keyboard curved to fit the hand. The keys are laid out just like the awsd keys. It's the four thumb buttons that give you your options.

i see, so does jumping feel ok with that? im used to the "big" keys, such as tab, shift, ctrl, and space
i hope for the n52, the "space" button feels ok because that would seem to be the only thing in the way

I use the thumb buttons to jump and crouch. There are four. One I set for jumping, another for crouching, and one for push-to-talk. The fourth button I am saving in case I ever want to use the shift functions.
I always did use my thumb for jumping. I don't use the pinky button, but I guess most people would use that for crouching. Since your fingers rest on the buttons, finding them isn't usually a problem for me.
If you plan on competing at LAN matches, you might want to stick with a keyboard. Even though I don't use it, there can be issues with devices that can do macros and such. Although I used mine in a ut2004 tournament at Million Man LAN with out a problem.
P.S. It even has Linux drivers pew!

It is just for FPS games; mainly just the AWSD keys. You do have quite a bit of flexibility. If you use a button for a "Shift Function" you can reassign all the other buttons when you hold it down. It will also do timed macros, but I don't believe it is a good idea to rely on macros in a game.
