Advice needed

Postby Dr.Feelgood » Sun Jan 22, 2006 2:20 am

Allright, heres an issue I've got right now

I have the following hardware up for grabs

Asus P4C800-E Deluxe
P4 Northwood-C 2.8
Radeon 9600XT with one huge honkin Arctic Cooler unit

I have two options

Trade the mobo and CPU for a "slightly used" Rosewill x800XL (pci-e) and a new Arctic Cooler unit for it.

Sell the stuff and get a video card, but that means a bit of downtime for me...

Also, any idea on what this stuff is worth overall?
Because I really don't have anything interesting to say for the most part...

"Hi mom!"

have you searched those items on ebay. That might give you a rough market price... generally I'd sell used stuff for 75% of the current 'new' price

If you decide to post them up there, be sure and start your auction title with the word "Used". When I did that I got more hits than the new stuff... probably because people are looking for a bargain...

then they bid some of the stuff up past the cost of new ... so go figure?

My thoughts are,

O/C your 2.8. You can get that up to 3.4 probably with stock cooling. I o/c my 2.4 p4 to 3.1 on stock cooling with no fuss on my asus p4p800.

Also the x800 is good and definately better than your 9600 but imo if your going to have to get a new mb too maybe you should look at a x850 (more pixel pipelines) or possibly a 6600gt or 6800gs.

There are some random thoughts.
