G5 razor mouse

A minute or so after starting up the game I hear a couple windows 8.1 clunk beeps like a usb peripheral is disconnected. Then I get an extra ghost crosshair floating around. After a bit it will beep again like being connected but extra crosshair still floating. I tried a diff usb port - same thing. Mouse was using windows driver. I installed the latest G5 Setpoint drivers. Same thing. Just my 5 yr old mouse not compatible with 8.1 right? I plugged an even older plain jane logitech mouse in and I don't get this issue.

Sounds like a cord issue that you might have a short in the cord, I could be wrong but it should work with Windows 8
